PaLaDIn Senior Project Manager Becca Leary presented a poster at this year’s European Conference on Rare Diseases (ECRD), which took place on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 June in Prague.
ECRD is Europe’s only policy-focused conference on rare diseases, and this year’s theme was “Rare Diseases in a Changing and Competitive Europe: Shaping policies to address the unmet needs of people living with rare diseases”. PaLaDIn shared a poster focusing on how the key project output (the Interactium®) could improve the lives of people with rare neuromuscular diseases through improved health and care decision-making.
At ECRD this year there was a real focus on innovation, and Becca spoke to many other disease communities about the potential benefits a patient-centred data platform like the Interactium® could bring to patients. There were several interesting presentations on consent models and AI-powered chatbots that PaLaDIn can learn from.
Health Technology Assessment was also a hot topic at ECRD, with lots of lively debate about the new legislation around Joint Clinical Assessment in the EU. Here, projects like PaLaDIn can play a critical role in collecting and standardising Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) for this new regulatory pathway.
