Meet the Team: TREAT-NMD

TREAT-NMD logo

TREAT-NMD is a global network of experts in the neuromuscular field. Everyone in our network helps us work towards our mission to accelerate the development of effective treatments; and establish the best in diagnosis and care for people worldwide.

TREAT-NMD is recognised for playing a key role in successfully addressing prominent issues that face therapeutic development in neuromuscular diseases. We have a strong record of advising the scientific and medical community and providing industry with essential go-to resources including education masterclasses, advice on clinical trial readiness, and global data provision to advance novel treatments for neuromuscular conditions.

TREAT-NMD aims to accelerate the development of effective treatments; and establish the best in diagnosis and care for people living with neuromuscular diseases worldwide. Taking part in, and coordinating the scientific aspects of Project PaLaDIn will help us to achieve this aim.

One of the key infrastructures developed by TREAT-NMD is the Global Registry Network – a federated network of 65 independent patient registries that collect harmonised data and work together to improve disease understanding, to support clinical trial planning and recruitment, and deliver patient data projects for industry, academia and regulators.

The data collected by the registries is generally clinically focused. We knew that this data could be significantly enriched if it were combined with disease-relevant, patient-reported data and improved PROMs. We also recognised the technological challenge of integrating data from different sources in a compliant, patient-controlled fashion; this dual challenge was the origin of Project PaLaDIn.

CEO of TREAT-NMD, David Allison explains why TREAT-NMD is part of PaLaDIn:

‘The TREAT-NMD Global Registry Network has always sought to include patient generated data, in addition to clinical data, in support of research and industry led developments. The PaLaDIn Project affords us the opportunity to take this to a whole new level: where patients and their families can feel real ongoing benefit from engagement, see significantly greater impact and through a louder, clearer voice help deliver better decision making in diagnosis, treatment development, care and funding for neuromuscular disease patients globally.’

PaLaDIn will develop and deploy innovative and novel technology – the Interactium – to collect and combine data from different sources in a way that is transparent and understandable to patients. We believe will transform how data is used in the neuromuscular disease field, and benefit all patients living with an NMD globally.
